Elon Musk Plans to Give SpaceX Stock to Children
The world's richest person, Elon Musk, has made a surprising promise. He plans to give shares of his company, SpaceX, to every child in the United States next year.
Musk announced this plan on October 19th, saying it is "just the beginning." He did not share specific details about how this giveaway will work or exactly who counts as a "child." Forbes reports that Musk owns 38% of SpaceX, and his total wealth is over 900 billion dollars. Based on U.S. Census data, there are about 72 million children under 18 in America.
If each child receives one share, the total value could be over 10.5 billion dollars. This announcement follows a similar pledge made by former President Trump regarding money for adults.
