Popular Opposition Leader Returns Home
Opposition leader María Machado has returned to Venezuela after living abroad for some time. Her return to the capital city has brought excitement and hope to many of her supporters who gathered to see her.
Much has changed in Venezuela since Machado last lived there. The previous president, Nicolás Maduro, is no longer in power, having been removed from office. He was replaced by Delcy Rodríguez, who has improved relations with the United States. The U.S. has recently made a significant oil deal with Venezuela.
Machado has criticized the new oil deal, but she has also received the U.S.'s support for her return. Her supporters believe her return is a very important political event that could bring positive change to the country.
